~I crossed the water, ready - My arms akimbo - Set like a strong sycamore - Hewn for the rowing - Friend to flame & seafoam…In bracken, in swirlings - I am human meeting the sacrifice: of fish, tadpole, crocodile...I am urge, a portent of the impossible - The moment in-between - Patience & idea... ~hag
“…All life is a process of breaking down - but the blows that do the dramatic side of the work, the big sudden blows that come, or seem to come, from outside - the ones you remember and blame things on - and in moments of weakness, tell your friends about - don’t show their effect all at once … The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in the mind at the same time, and still retain the ability to function. One should, for example, be able to see that things are hopeless and yet be determined to make them otherwise…~F. Scott Fitzgerald “The Crack-Up”
Those of you who venture into the world of the Cognitive Ritual know that I often grapple with the idea of a Question as a Quest…So if you are looking for a solid answer, well then you better have a sense of humor & a taste for bitter-sweet truth-wrought-words…
I have often found that the Quest for ‘answers’ acts like a longed-for life-preserver - but they often end up being a defective pool noodle, a suffocating mind box. In life’s choppy sea the answer might keep us floating for a day, or a lifetime, but ultimately a concrete answer can sink you – it can become like the coffin of Osiris, imprisoning the Sunlight – unless the Wisdom of Isis can open the tomb toward a future horizon dotted with new Questions…
And remember, the ‘answer’ often comes in disguise - brushing past us like the memory of a scent, wafting in - not only from Spirit, but from our fellow human beings - in the overheard remark of a stranger on the street, or a slap in the face from a friend - answers can also fly in from bacteria & insects & clouds - they can bring us to our knees, or make us get up & dance…
Questions are relational - They involve the other. They weave roots to plants & branches to trees – nourishing bugs & bacilli – feeding the human being - Ever asking: Are we a fit food for the gods? As we co-create a resilient connection between Spirit & Matter.
And so, as I make my return from a trying trip, I attempt, as F. Scott Fitzgerald tells: to be able to see that things are hopeless and yet be determined to make them otherwise - to embrace the break-down & the build-up - the 2 sides of the proverbial coin – a flexible currency in the many realms, to look for the silver-lining in the ever shedding womb of the soul, which if fed by Faith, provides like the ‘Ganganda greida’ — the “circulating cordial” – Mother’s Milk – Manna from heaven – a spiritual food that flows from the Holy Grail, alchemically prepared, when the human being is able to spiritualize their sense impressions, so that the base mineral extracts become so well refined, that they can nourish the noblest part of the soul. Providing a Divine Nourishment, given only to those that journey earnestly on the Spiritual Quest.
A striving for the ever-evolving answer that fills my heart-(w)hole – a sacred Temple gestating miracles I could never have planned without the Great Work of chipping away what does not serve, hewing the Rough Ashlar Stone in the striving to Perfect my soul.

6 March 2022 – “Speaking with the Stars”: Have you seen Venus (occult Mercury) lately? It’s the brightest planet, now near the sunrise glare. You have to catch it at just the right time, before the dawn light overwhelms it. On the morning of March 7, 2024, the slender waning moon will point toward Venus & much-dimmer Mars. Once Venus goes into the sun, it’ll be gone from our sky for a long time. It’ll pass most directly behind the Sun in June & return to our evening sky in late July or August.

When New Moon occurs in March, the Sun will have progressed from Aquarius to Pisces, and this becomes the lead-up to Easter, which is always in the sign of the Son. John the Baptist, who is the Water-bearer in the sign of Aquarius, even acknowledged this when his own cousin approached him on the day of the baptism. He said to Jesus:
“Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! 30 This is He on behalf of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.’ 31 I did not recognize Him, but so that He might be manifested to Israel, I came baptizing in water.” 32 John testified saying, “I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him. 33 I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me, ‘He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, this is the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’ 34 I myself have seen, and have testified that this is the Son of God.” John 1
“Questions are relational - They involve the other. They weave roots to plants & branches to trees – nourishing bugs & bacilli – feeding the human being - Ever asking: Are we a fit food for the gods? As we co-create a resilient connection between Spirit & Matter.”
This is the true Manichean Objective.
The best and most thorough place where Steiner spoke about Manichaeism is here in the first lecture of The Philosophy of Thomas Aquinas. Spirit and Matter are united. This is what caused Augustine so much trouble. He had to separate Spirit and Matter and make Spirit superior. This became the Church.
